Integrative Therapist - Part-Time, As Needed

Department: Adult Mental Health Treatment: Clinical

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred 
  • 2-3 years experience in one or more forms of integrated therapy
  • Two or more years in a behavioral health, substance abuse or medical environment preferred
  • Experience in a psychiatric inpatient or residential treatment center preferred

Position Overview:

Provides experiential therapeutic interventions to individuals with psychiatric and substance use disorders using a variety of holistic programing (Examples: Art, Music, Recreation, Horticulture, Physical Wellness, or Nutrition)

Ensures mindfulness as an approach to mental health, engaging clients in the present moment and bringing a greater awareness to the activity at hand. Addresses some of the stigmas surrounding mental illness that may lead to isolation and feelings of inadequacy through gentle, success oriented, social engagement such as making a meal together, playing music, or enjoying a walk around the campus together.

Provide referrals and education services across the continuum of care. Serves as an integral core team member within the inter-professional patient centered team. Important resource for patients and team members for issues related to mental health, chemical health, and lifestyle management to support optimal patient functioning.

Performance Requirements: 

  • Provides experiential and expressive therapeutic activities and interventions to individuals and groups.

  • Assess client’s emotional and behavioral functioning to broaden the comprehensive evaluation of each individual.

  • Analyzes and records clients’ reactions to various experiences and completes timely accurate documentation in the medical record.

  • Provides education to patients and families about expressive activities that may maintain and broaden a client’s post discharge success.

  • Involves clients and families, as appropriate, in aspects of care including treatment planning and aftercare strategy.

  • Shares relevant clinical information with treatment team and devises specific, individualized treatment goals and intervention.
