Being a Non-Profit Matters

Primum Non Nocere (First Do No Harm)

As a physician executive, reading the recent New York Times article “How a Leading Chain of Psychiatric Hospitals Traps Patients” highlighted several disturbing issues that I discussed with our senior leadership team.
In 2016, I joined HopeWay as the CEO & Chief Medical Officer, because the non-profit mission resonated with my commitment to evidence-based and patient-centered care. As a physician-led organization, our clients’ health, safety, and stability are always the number one priority.

Having pledged “Primum non nocere”—to first, do no harm—and to always put my patients first during medical school, the ethical standards of the Hippocratic Oath continue to shape my daily decision-making, alongside HopeWay’s core values of Hope, Excellence, Trust, and Compassion

HopeWay's Ethical Care Approach

HopeWay’s leading academically trained providers ensure that every individual receives the appropriate care they need, based on their symptoms, not economics. The New York Times article is a stark reminder that when profit overshadows care, the system fails. At HopeWay, we remain dedicated to ethical, compassionate treatment, keeping the client and family at the center of every decision. I am proud to lead this team in top-notch, evidence-based compassionate care that results in superior outcomes for our clients and their families.
