Miriam Martinez Kraus, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, CPCO joined HopeWay in 2016, bringing extensive expertise in healthcare compliance and patient care. As Chief Compliance Officer and Nurse Practitioner at HopeWay, she plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organization’s adherence to regulatory standards and providing high-quality mental health treatment.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Professional Compliance Officer, Dr. Martinez Kraus oversees regulatory compliance, ensuring HopeWay adheres to North Carolina state laws, The Joint Commission standards, and third-party payer requirements. She also leads critical initiatives in medical records management, aftercare planning, outcomes studies, and patient safety and quality measures.

Education and Background

Dr. Martinez Kraus holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Fort Hays State University and a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Advanced Practice Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, both from Azusa Pacific University.

Prior to joining HopeWay, Dr. Martinez Kraus gained valuable experience in various healthcare settings, working with diverse patient populations, and developing a deep understanding of patient care and healthcare compliance. Her most recent position as Assistant Medical Director and Vice President of Operations & Compliance at First Step Recovery Center in California further solidified her expertise in these areas.

Additionally, Dr. Martinez Kraus is a skilled clinician, who focuses on the treatment and management of patients with acute and chronic medical diagnoses, psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders, and complex pain management needs. Her compassionate approach and clinical expertise contribute significantly to the positive outcomes achieved by HopeWay’s clients.
