Dr. Kevin Marra is a board-certified psychiatrist who has served as HopeWay’s Director of Medical Services since opening in 2016. Dr. Marra has been instrumental in growing the medical team, and currently oversees the psychiatrists, primary care providers and nurses.

As a leader in the organization, Dr. Marra also trains and supervises medical students during their psychiatric rotation, as well as residents during their psychiatric training.

Dr. Marra’s true passion is working with clients and families, and he specializes in treating young adults struggling with mood disorders and individuals diagnosed with personality disorders. His approach to treatment is comprehensive, focusing on the whole-person, through lifestyle choices, psychotherapy, and medication management. Through a partnership with Novant, in 2022, Dr. Marra started seeing clients at the Michael Jordan Clinic and Hope Community Clinic to bring vital psychiatric services to patients without insurance.

Prior to joining HopeWay, Dr. Marra was employed by Carolinas Healthcare System (now Atrium) and was involved in the opening of the Mindy Ellen Levine Behavioral Health center in Davidson, NC.

Dr. Marra is a proud native of West Virginia, and attended West Virginia University where he earned a BA in Biology. He went on to earn his Medical Degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Dr. Marra completed his General Psychiatric Residency Training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he served as Chief resident in his final year. He went on to complete a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at UNC the following year. In medical school, Dr. Marra was inducted in to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. He is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law where he was selected as a Rappeport Fellow in 2011.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children. He also enjoys cooking, exercising and watching his beloved West Virginia Mountaineers.
