What is Drama Therapy?

Drama Therapy uses creativity and roleplay to help clients tell their stories, express emotions, and explore personal challenges in a safe and supportive environment. Unlike traditional acting, it’s not about performance, it’s about enacting: practicing new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Sessions may include improvisation, storytelling, or the use of props and costumes, and always end with reflection to deepen self-awareness.

Who Benefits from Drama Therapy?

This therapeutic approach is especially effective for teens and individuals coping with trauma or PTSD. For teens, creative techniques such as puppetry and roleplay provide age-appropriate ways to process emotions and build communication skills. For those who have experienced a traumatic event, Drama Therapy offers a safe distance to explore painful experiences, helping clients reconnect with their bodies and relationships without becoming overwhelmed.
